Homemade Baby Food

We have been making our own baby food for Jeffrey since he began eating solids.  It's actually been a lot of fun, and honestly not as much work as I initially thought.  We've been buying organic fruits and vegetables, so we feel really good about what we're putting into his little body.

So this is the Babycook - it steams and chops whatever we're making.  All in one!  So easy.  On the day that I took this photo, we were making peas.  Jeffrey loves them!
I just add water to create the consistency I'm looking for.  This was still a little too chunky...
And then I pour it all into ice cube trays for freezing.  Once it's frozen, I just pop them out and put them into labeled freezer bags for safe keeping.  Whenever the baby is hungry, I just defrost a few.  It certainly makes for easy portion control.

So far we've tried the following:

Fruits:
Bananas - as of this morning, he still doesn't like them.  In fact, he spits them out.  Surprising, but true.
Apples - his favorite fruit.
Pears - also yummy
Blueberries - he likes them but they stain his clothes.  Not fun for mommy.
Blackberry/Pear/Banana concoction - yum.  Again, he likes it but this meal requires a stain stick!

Veggies:
Carrots - delicious every time.
Green Beans - not his favorite but he puts up with them.
Brussel Sprouts - I know, this was a gutsy move on my part.  But mixed with a little peas, he loves them!
Peas - his favorite green vegetable so far.
Sweet Potatoes - he can't get enough of these either.
Squash - another favorite (really, Jeffrey finds all of the orange veggies quite yummy)
Avacado - The baby violently shook his head NO when we tried these.  I don't think he liked them :)

He's also still eating rice cereal twice a day, plus a bottle at every meal.  He has become quite a little eating machine. :)  Such a boy!!
